Sparkling Chenin & The Ultimate Food Pairings
It’s about time we really carve out some space for sparkling wine at the table (and not just next to friend chicken, thank you New York Times). Yes, a celebratory coupe is just perfect on its own. But our vintage Sparkling Chenin can be just as spectacular with a lip-smacking snack, a banging brunch or memorable main meal.
Here are a few hero pairings for you to explore the next time you pop a cork.
Brunch O’clock
Hold the orange juice, we are not in mimosa territory. Try a classic Eggs Benedict for brunch, with a zingy glass of our Sparkling Chenin. It will be the perfect interlude between velvety moments of soft poached eggs and creamy hollandaise.
Déjeuner en Provence - Lunch in Provence
Pissaladière – the tart of Southern France. This flaky French answer to pizza is a provincial star. On a bedding of caramelised onions sits a harlequin pattern of olives and anchovies. A sweet and salty afternoon snack, or light lunch, is just asking to be joined by a chilled glass of vibrant sparkling wine (enter chenin).
A cold and comforting evening
Chicken, and mushrooms, and sparkling, oh my! When you’re looking for a cockle warming recipe for two (or more) it is hard to walk past Rick Stein’s one-pot chicken and mushroom fricassee. This luscious French dish is filled to the brim with layers of creamy umami goodness. It sits superbly next to the elegant minerality of our Sparkling Chenin.
Fish & Chips, but make it fancy
Sometimes, a sunny Sunday afternoon calls for nothing more than a classic Fish and Chips (and a bottle of bubbles). The vibrant acidity of our sparkling (and its dryer style) is a perfect palate cleanser between crunchy mouthfuls of golden-battered fried fish and delectably salty chips. We’d go so far as to say it’s a marriage made in heaven. If you’re feeling inspired (enough) to make Fish & Chips at home, good on you. We’re heading down to the local, to pick up a butchers-paper wrapped parcel of deep-fried joy.
